Our 141-acre farm in Melbourne, Arkansas is owned by my husband Brian and me. While Brian works full-time as a farmer, I work as a Program Manager of a software development team and also help out part-time on the farm. Although our daughter doesn’t live with us at the moment or help with the farm’s tasks, we hope that one day she or one of our granddaughters will take over the farm.
Our land is divided into approximately one-third pasture and two-thirds wooded areas. We’re continuously making efforts to create more pasture. Maintaining the land is a significant responsibility, and we have six outbuildings to assist us with everything, including a barn, woodshop, equipment shed, two corrals, and a milk processing building.
Our cozy two-story log house features wrap-around porches on both levels, and it’s where we live with our beloved silky terrier, Bella, who helps keep unwanted pests at bay. Recently, we welcomed a rescue beagle named Penelope, or Penny for short, into our family.
Our farm is home to pasture-fed cattle and free-range chickens, including layers and broilers. Our mission since starting the farm in 2016 has been to keep things simple, prioritize family, and produce quality goods for our community.
